MAD 442E - Aggregate Mining

Course Objectives

1. To teach basing principles of aggregate mining
2. To provide enough information to increase quarry management skill
3. To provide enough information about the equipment used in quarries.

Course Description

The aim of the course is to teach aggregate mining comprehensively. Main components of the course are properties of aggregates and aggregate laboratory tests, evaluation of current aggregate industry in Turkey, quarry infrastructure, drilling and blasting in quarries, evaluation of blast muckpile, selection of drilling equipment and maintenance, loading and hauling equipment, evaluation of environmental adverse effects, ground vibration, noise and dust monitoring, crushing, screening and material handling, rehabilitation of quarries and emerging technologies in aggregate mining.
