Course Objectives
1. To provide the basic concepts and relation with other disciplines of Engineering Geology
2. To determine and interpret the engineering properties of rocks and soils
3. To apply and importance of Engineering geological investigations on engineering projects
Course Description
Description, evaluation of engineering geology, basic concepts and its relations with other disciplines. Geological, chemical, physical, mechanical and technological properties of rocks and soils. Classifications of earth materials for engineering purposes. . Engineering geological maps. Classification, causes and preventation, in-situ measurements and controlling of mass movements, warning systems. Analysis methods, stability and reinforcement of slopes. Damsite, reservoir and raw material investigations. Tunneling geology, tunneling, excavation methods and types of supporting. Geology of industrial raw materials. Quarrying, application and conservation of natural building stones.
