Course Objectives 1. To provide the students with a background on the fundamentals of applied geophysics.
2.To make the students familiar with the important aspects of modern field procedures, data processing methods and interpretation so that they gain perspective on the topic before they take advanced-level prospecting courses.
Course Description Introduction to geophysical methods used in surveying of earth structure for geological and geotechnical purposes and for the exploration of natural resources
Course Outcomes Students who pass the course will be able to:
1. Have the students gain knowledge on the application of basic sciences, basic engineering sciences and earth sciences for the solution of geophysical engineering problems.
2. Have the students gain knowledge in exploration of natural resources such as mines, oil and natural gas, rare earth materials and industrial raw materials.
3. Improve the students’ ability to interpret the processed geophysical data by using multi-disciplinary approach.
