JEO 310E - Geomicrobiology
Course Objectives
The aim of this course is to introduce students to the nature of microorganisms, their diversity, their metabolic activities and interaction between the solid phases and minerals during microbial interactive. The course examines the processes at the cell interface between microorganism and mineral, and mineral deposits, dissolution and changes in water geochemistry as a result of this relationship. Microbial evolution and its geological consequences will be covered during the course.
