Course Objectives
1) Introduction to mining engineering education and occupational areas
2) Underground and open pit mining methods and mine mechanization applications
3) Introduction to mining industry in Turkey, showing its importance and place in the world
Course Description
Introduction to mining engineering education and occupational areas. Introduction to and comparison of underground and open pit mining methods. Mine mechanization applications and advantages. Importance of ore-coal processing, application areas. Mining of coal, metals, precious metals and natural stones in Turkey and the world. Cement production technologies. Government and private sectors in mining. Mining and environment.
Course Outcomes
1) learns the features of mining engineering and occupational areas
2) learns about underground and open pit mining methods
3) learns importance of mine mechanization and developments in this field
4) learns the structure of mining industry of Turkey and can quest its position in the world
5) learns the structures of government and private sectors and their problems
