Course Objectives		To be able to understand the concepts of probability, conditional probability, and random variable To be able to solve permutation and combination problems To be able to solve real-life problems in engineering using statistics. To understand the details of probability functions and to be able to make engineering applications of them. To calculate the measures of central tendency and diffusion. To be able to set up and perform Hypothesis Tests for single and double Population Mean. Gains the skills of applying the least squares method as regression analysis & correlations.
Course Description		Product rule, permutation, combination, concept of probability (Kolmogorov axioms), Conditional probability and independence, random variable, probability density function, distribution function, Discrete distributions: Bernoulli, Binomial, Poisson Distributions, continuous distributions: Normal, Gamma and Exponential, Expected value , Moment generating function, mean, variance, standard deviation, covariance, correlation, Chebishev inequality, Estimator and its properties, Maximum likelihood estimator, Confidence interval, Hypothesis test, Odd and even Population Mean Hypothesis Test, regression
Course Outcomes		Students who successfully complete this course; Being able to solve permutation and combination problems. Being able to understand the concepts of probability, conditional probability and random variables. Being able to solve real-life problems in engineering using statistics. To understand the details of probability functions and be able to apply them in engineering. To calculate central tendency and dispersion measures. Understanding statistical tests.
