Course Objectives
The main objective of the course is to acquaint the students with the EOR methods and their applications and is to give a solid background to the students on course of waterflooding. The other objectives are to (a) develop students’ ability to apply an integrated knowledge of math, physics, geosciences, and engineering sciences for the solution of waterflooding problems, (b) develop students’ capabilities for analytical thinking and solving the problems on the course of waterflooding, (c) encourage to develop and improve students’ ability in oral communication throughout the course.
Course Description
This course provides an introduction to enhanced oil recovery (EOR), a classification of EOR techniques, and an emphasis on waterflooding. The course is focused on the fundamental principles, concepts in EOR methods, and basic equations used to solve fluid flow problems in reservoir/porous media in order to understand displacement mechanisms occurring in waterflooding process. Students are responsible to give an oral presentation on a topic relating to any of the EOR methods besides waterflooding.
Course Outcomes
Develop students’ capabilities for analytical thinking and solving waterflooding problems with applying an integrated knowledge of math, physics, geosciences, and engineering sciences
Pre-requisite(s)
