Course Objectives To acquaint the students with the concepts, equations, assessment methods and tools used for geothermal engineering. Moreover, develop skills and ability of students to design methods for measuring RESOURCE capacity and assess geothermal resources.
Course Description The course provides students basic knowledge on geothermal systems, exploration methods and assessment of geothermal resources. The utilization of geothermal energy, direct or indirect is given. It also emphasizes the similarities and differences of petroleum engineering and geothermal engineering principles and methods.
Course Outcomes 1 - Gain information on a renewable and sustainable energy resource which has an important potential in Turkey and in the world,
2 - Learn utilization of a contemporary and clean energy,
3 - Gain the ability on solving problems related to geothermal energy.
