Course Objectives		1. To inform the student about the importance of the coal on energy production. 2. To teach the students what is the concept of coal cleaning. 3. To describe the methods of coal preparation, coal technology, plant practice and plant control.
Course Description		Definition of coal and coal properties, Coal properties and its role on consumption, Utilization of Turkish hard coal, lignite and wastes. Sampling of coal deposits. Coal preparation, washability curves; float-sink and M-curve. Crushing, screening and wet concentration of coal, dry coal beneficiation, reduction of sulfur content of coals. Removal of coal moisture. Secondary processes of coal preparation. Process evaluation methods of coal plants. Coal analyses methods.
Course Outcomes		Students who pass the course will be able to: I. Figure out the importance of coal and how it is evaluated on energy production. II. Determine and evaluate the coal cleaning methods. III. Design the complete flow sheet of coal cleaning and dewatering. IV. Coal Analysis Methods V.Evaluate the performance of the washing equipments on washing plants.
