Course Objectives
The main objectives of the course is to acquaint students the well log tools and how to analyze well logs to extract information necessary for drilling, production and reservoir engineering activities.
Course Description
Fundamental concepts, radioactive and acoustic properties of underground rocks, gamma ray log, density log, neutron log, sonic log, determination of porosity and lithologies, combined log graphical analysis techniques, evaluation of gas-bearing formations.
Course Outcomes
I - to apply knowledge of mathematics, science and engineering in welllogging,
II - to identify and interpret well logging tools,
III- to analyze and interpret data in well logging,
IV- a knowledge of contemporary issues,
V - understanding of life-long learning.
