Course Objectives Introducing the concept of ore deposits with related terminology, and classification of ore deposits on the basis of the principles of ore genesis, Giving information about the relationships with host rocks of ore deposits and the factors that lead to mineralization and criteria for evaluation of mineral deposits; Giving information about important ore deposit types from Turkey and the world ; Discussing contribution of mining to the national economy and environmental impact of mining activities.
Course Description The history of mineral deposits, mineral deposits terminology, geochemical cycles, plate tectonics, the classification of mineral deposits, relationships with host rocks of ores, criteria for evaluation of mineral deposits, the main formation theories of ore deposits, an important mineral deposit samples from Turkey and the world (Orthomagmatic Cr, diamond, Fe, Ti, Ni, Cu deposits, pneumo-hydrothermal Cu, Pb, Zn, Au, W, Sn, Mo deposits, sedimentary Fe, Mn, Al, P deposits , placer deposits, supergene enrichment), and contribution of mining to the national economy and its environmental impact.
