Course Objectives
1. Understanding theories of the seismic refraction and reflection methods
2. Finding out geometrical (thickness, slope etc.) and physical (seismic velocity) properties of the subsurface layers.
3. Understanding the importance of seismic data for solving geological problems and exploring subsurfaces having naturel sources like petroleum, natural gasses, coal etc.
Course Description
Students will use travel times of reflected and refracted seismic waves propagated through the Earth’s interior to find out geological boundaries and elastic properties of the ground.
