Course Objectives Statistical Learning from Data: Applications in Physics
Course Description This lecture is an attempt to bring together many of the important new ideas in learning, and explain them in a statistical framework. While some physics/mathematical/computing details are needed, I emphasize the methods and their conceptual underpinnings rather than their theoretical properties. As a result, the lecture is dedicated not just to physicist but also to researchers and practitioners in a wide variety of engineering fields.
Course Outcomes 1. Obtain a general knowledge about open-source software in science and business applications
2. Applications of Python, R and C++ programming languages in data analyses and applications for scientific problems
3. Analyzing various data formats via statistical applications, visulization and interpretation
4. Gaining information on the interactions of statistical methods, object oriented analytics and data-driven user interfaces for various data types,
5. Gaining ability to use data science for predictions.
6. Projects for scientific and business intelligence problems in data science
