Course Objectives The course is designed to provide fundamental aspects of total synthesis in organic chemistry.
Course Description This course provides extensive coverage of various aspect of total synthesis such as retrosynthetic analysis, functional group interconversions (FGI)’s, chemoselectivity, regioselectivity, stereoselectivity, protecting group, the carbon-carbon bond forming reactions using stabilized carbanions, ylides, enamines, and transition metal catalysis. In addition, the course covers the common “name reactions” used in organic syntheses.
Course Outcomes This course enables the students understand the mechanism of common organic reactions used in organic synthesis and then to plan their own syntheses.
