Course Objectives
1. To provide a general look and evaluation for inorganic compounds for understanding their structures.
2. To provide an ability to produce inorganic materials and their extensive use in material science.
Course Description
Structures and Symmetries of d-Metal Complexes: Representative Ligands and nomenclature; Theories on Bonding and Electronic Structure of d-Metal Complexes; Coordination equilibria in d-metal/ligand substitution reactions, Reactions of d- Metal Complexes, Reaction rates, Mechanisms, Lability and inertness and Molecularity in complexes of various geometries; Electronic spectra of complexes: d-d transitions, Ligand-Field Transitions, Charge-Transfer Bands, Circular Dichroism, Electron Paramagnetic Resonance; Synthesis, structure and bonding in Organometallic compounds; The biological roles of Metal ions, Oxygen Transport and Storage; Reduction potentials of metals, Redox stability, Chemical extraction of the metals.
