Course Objectives 1. To teach the basic concepts and principles of chemistry.
2. To give theoretical and practical information as a whole.
3. To develop students' problem solving skills.
4. To explain the importance of chemistry in our daily life.
5. To direct the students to logical and positive thoughts and to make them understand the laws of nature within this framework.
Course Description Chemistry and stoichiometry, atoms and atomic theories, the periodic table and some atomic properties, chemical bonds, molecular geometry, gases and gas laws, liquids, solids, solutions and their physical properties, thermochemistry, chemical equilibrium, acids and bases, thermodynamics
Course Outcomes Students who passed this course successfully:
1. make comments and applications on the atomic structure and theories about the atom, the periodic table.
2. Calculations using stoichiometry in chemical reactions
can.
3. Apply different theories about liquid solutions and gases and solve problems.
4. Make applications related to heat, work, enthalpy and internal energy changes.
5. Demonstrate the three-dimensional structures of chemical compounds by using various theories about the bond concept and bond concept.
6. Has information about the crystal structures of solids and can solve applications. 7. Solve problems related to thermodynamics, equilibrium, acidity, basicity concepts and concentration.
8. Can support all this knowledge with real examples from current life.
