Course Objectives This course aims to familiarize the students with Ottoman modernization, WWI, Independence war, Lausanne Peace Treaty and the foundation of Modern Turkish Republic.

Course Outcomes Students who successfully pass this course gain knowledge, skill and competency in the following subjects:
1. Gaining academic information on the last 200 years of the Ottoman Empire
2. Gaining academic information about the Turkish War of Independence
3. Gaining information about Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his leadership position in the Turkish War of Independence
4. Gaining academic information about the Peace Conference of Lausanne and Treaty of Lausanne
