Course Objectives
This course aims to familiarize the students with Ottoman modernization, WWI, Independence war, Lausanne Peace Treaty and the foundation of Modern Turkish Republic.
Course Description
Modernization process of the Ottoman Empire, period of the Union and Progress Party (İttihat ve Terakki Fırkası) government, Ottoman-Italian Tripolitanian War, Balkan Wars, World War I, Turkish War of Independence and Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, Peace
Conference of Lausanne, Treaty of Lausanne
Course Outcomes
Students who successfully pass this course gain knowledge, skill and competency in the following subjects:
1. Gaining academic information on the last 200 years of the Ottoman Empire
2. Gaining academic information about the Turkish War of Independence
3. Gaining information about Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and his leadership position in the Turkish War of Independence
4. Gaining academic information about the Peace Conference of Lausanne and Treaty of Lausanne
