Course Objectives

1. To teach the concept of sampling and sampling distributions.
2. To provide the ability to use point estimation, confidence interval and hypothesis tests in practice.
3. To provide the ability to use regression, correlation and analysis of variance in practice.
4. Application of non-parametric tests.

Course Description

Sampling from the normal distribution. Maximum likelihood function and maximum likelihood estimators. The unbiasedness and consistency properties of estimators. Fisher information and efficient estimator. Asymptotic properties of maximum likelihood estimators. Confidence intervals. Hypothesis testing and test statistics. Optimal tests, powerful test; power function, Neyman-Pearson theorem. Single-sample, two-sample and paired models. Linear and logistic regression and correlation. Variance analysis. Nonparametric methods.
