Course Objectives This course covers: Material and process selection on the basis of objective and quantitative criteria; Concept of material selection on the basis of socalled Ashby diagrams; Design methodology; Structural design factors; Structural layout and design; Design for manufacturing; Advanced design topics; Aircraft loads; Fasteners and structural joints; Fuselage; Empennage structure; Landing gears; Wing box structure; Wing leading and trailing edges; Life cycle cost.
Course Description I-Develop an understanding of aircraft design methodology through lectures and applications;
II-Providing the participants with the tools to make material and process selection on the basis of objective and quantitative criteria;
III-Get information about design principles (requirements, design methods, trade studies, and project lifecycle);
IV-Subsystem sizing, computational design, performance evaluation.
Course Outcomes .Sc./Ph.D. students who successfully pass this course gain knowledge, skill and competency in the following subjects;

I. Learning of fundamental principles of aircraft design
II. Capability of choosing proper material and process for specific requirements
III. Designing of structural components and systems by using computational methods
IV. Evalution of performance.
