To teach students of mathematics advanced concepts in scientific calculation and prepare them for programming in upper-level courses.
Course Description
Introduction to Scientific and Engineering Computing, Introduction to Programming Environment, Variables, Operations and Basic Drawing, Algorithms and Logical Operators, Errors and Error Sources, Functions, Linear Algebra Applications, Gaussian Elimination, LU Decomposition, Iterative Methods: Gauss-Siedel, Linear Least Squares Regression with Built-In Functions, Single Variable Nonlinear Equations, Single Variable Fixed-Point Iteration, Newton-Raphson Method in Single Variable Equations. Applications of Built-In Functions to Single Variable Non-Linear Equations, Single Variable Numerical Derivatives, Single Variable Numerical Integration, Numerical Derivatives and Integration with Built-In Functions, Introduction to Solutions of Ordinary Differential Equations with Built-In Functions.
