BIO 415EL - Molecular Biology Laboratory
Course Objectives
1. Investigation of the proteins extracted from cells transfected with foreign nucleic acids obtained by recombinant DNA technology
2. Investigation of how the interaction of the interested protein with its interaction partners changes depending on the mutation in the gene of interest
3. Determination of the change of various mRNA expressions in the cell, depending on the mutation in the gene of interest
4. Analysis of the alteration in the level of various proteins in the cell, depending on the mutation in the gene of interest
5. Application of basic experimental methods for molecular cell biology
Course Description
In the context of theoretical and practical teaching of the commonly used molecular biology techniques; conducting transfection, protein isolation, protein measurement via western blot and ELISA techniques, observation of protein-protein interactions using co-immunprecipitation technique, proteomic and pathway analyses using 2D gel electrophoresis, and mRNA level measurement using qPCR and interpreting the results.
