Course Objectives
1. To introduce the language, logic, and math of numerical methods as used in engineering and the sciences.
2. To provide an opportunity to learn how numerical analysis can be applied to a wide range of problems of importance in the sciences, industry, and society.
3. To improve the programming skills of the students.
Course Description
Accuracy estimation in numerical methods and error propagation.
Root finding of nonlinear equations. Solution methods for system of linear and nonlinear equations. Curve fitting: Regression and interpolation. Numerical differentiation and integration Numerical solutions of ordinary differential equations. Runge-Kutta Methods.
Course Outcomes
Students who successfully pass this course will:
1. Learn how to use the Python programming language in scientific and engineering calculations,
2. Understand the basics of numerical methods,
3. Have the ability to use numerical methods in the analysis of an engineering problem.
