Course Objectives
1 - To have a basic knowledge of semiconductor physics in order to understand semiconductors and their devices
2 - To know basic semiconductor devices in today s technology
3 - To know basic production processes in semiconductor technology
Course Description
Crystal structure. Atomic bonds. Properties of energy bands in semiconductors. Statistics of electrons and holes. Carrier dynamics. Generation and recombination processes. PN junctions and diodes. Metal/semiconductor junctions. Physics and technology of heterojunction devices. Bipolar junction transistors. Junction and insulated gate transistors. Electronic devices
Course Outcomes
1 - . To develop a better understanding of semiconductor physics in order to grasp the working principles semiconductor devices
2 - To know the structure of semiconductor devices and how they work
3 - To predict how a semiconductor device may works in a circuit
