MAT 202E - Numerical Methods

Course Objectives

The objective of the course is to provide students with the basic knowledge and skills required for implementation of analytical and numerical methods that can be used for modeling and analysis of engineering problems.

Course Description

This course makes an introduction to numerical solution of mathematical problems in engineering through use of established numerical methods. The objective of the course is to provide students with the basic knowledge and skills required for implementation of analytical and numerical methods that can be used for modeling and analysis of engineering problems. Covered topics include basics of mathematical modeling, computers and error analysis, roots and optimization, linear systems, curve fitting, numerical integration and differentiation. MATLAB is used for implementation of the covered methods.
