Course Objectives
To enlighten the students about the current and developing technologies which are used in emergency management
? To emphasize the role and applications of related technologies in the preparedness, mitigation, response and recovery phases of emergency management
? To understand the problems and issues which require the use of technology in emergency management
? To discover the existing problems in the use of technology in emergency management
Course Description
Emergency management course includes database introduction, remote sensing basics and different applications, GPS basics and applications, introduction to GIS and applications in emergency management, Turkish disaster management information system, decision support systems, new Technologies and different emergency management applications.
Course Outcomes
1. Required data types for the emergency management and related phases
2. Basics of required methods, technologies and systems for the production, acquisition and use of spatial data and information
3. Application fields of related methods, technologies and systems
4. Use of Geographic Information Systems in emergency management
5. Basics of decision support systems in emergency management
