Course Objectives 1. Read, analyze and interpret significant scholarly publications that could be regarded as fundamental for gaining expertise in a research area of interest or recent pioneering work that serves to expand the boundaries of the research area of interest.
2. Acquire background, practical and theoretical knowledge and skills in the research area.
3. Discuss the acquired background, knowledge, technical and theoretical skills with the supervising faculty member to explore the outer limits of the research area.
4. Express the acquired background, knowledge, technical and theoretical skills as well as foreseeable potential research work in own words in the form of a concise presentation.
Course Description Under the supervision of a faculty member, in weekly meetings, the investigation of scholarly publications that are in a research area of interest to the faculty member and recommended by the faculty member. The analysis of these publications as well as potential directions of research for the future are to be shared with the faculty member in these meetings. Every 3-4 weeks, a concise presentation of the acquired knowledge and background, significant results in the research area as well as potential directions of research is to be made to the supervising faculty member. A report that summarizes the work carried out during the term will be prepared

2. Skill of analyzing scholarly publications.
3. Ability to discover new research topics and directions by interpreting existing scholarly publications.
4. Ability to establish scientific discussion and communication with an expert in the field of interest.
5. Scientific presentation ability.
6. Preparation of a scientific report.
