Course Objectives 1. Learning intelligent methods and their principles.
2. Learning advantages/disadvantages of intelligent methods to numerical methods.
3. Learning the design of intelligent methods.
4. Learning how to model problems in real world areas such as electrical power systems, electrical distribution systems and smart grids, solving them.
Course Description Simulated Annealing Method, Tabu Search Method, Genetic Algorithms, Differential Evolution Method,
Partical Swarm Optimization, Harmoni Search Method, Ant Colony Optimization, Artificial Bee Colony Optimization, Gravitational Search Algorithm, Electrical Transmission Systems Applications, Electrical Distribution System Applications, Smart Grid Applications
Course Outcomes 1. Advantages/disadvantages of intelligent optimization methods comparing to derivative based numerical optimization methods.
2. Intelligent methods’ principles.
3. Concepts such as: population, fitness function, crossover, mutation, and their determination.
4. Criteria for determining the parameters of intelligent optimization methods.
5. Comparison and improvement of the performances of the methods
