Course Objectives
This course aims at presenting students the fundamentals and the state-of-the-art of computer vision.
Course Description
Following topics are covered in this course presenting the fundamentals and the state-of-the-art in computer vision:
1. Image Analysis
1.1. Linearity and Filtering
1.2. Fourier and Wavelet Transforms
1.3. Discrete Cosine Transform
1.4. Edge Detection and Hough Transform
1.5 Feature Extraction
1.6. Image Compression
2. Video Analysis
2.1. Motion Detection
2.2. Tracking Methods
2.3. Video Compression
3. Three Dimensional Perception
Course Outcomes
Students are anticipated to equipped with the following competencies once the course is successfully completed:
1. Acquire enough knowledge about computer vision to follow the scientific literature on the fundamentals and the state-of-the-art techniques.
2. Get experience on critical reading of scientific papers.
3. Develop a method (as novel as possible) in order to solve a real computer vision problem.
