Course Objectives 1. To teach the sustainability concept with a focus on its environmental aspect.
2. To teach the industrial design approaches that aim at environmental sustainability.
3. To teach about the examples of industrial design innovation on environmental sustainability.
To integrate environmental sustainability into industrial design research.
Course Description Sustainable Development and its Environmental Aspect, Sustainable Design Approaches at Product Level and Product Service System Level, Sustainable Energy Technologies, Environmental Sustainability Impact, Incremental and Radical Design Innovation for Sustainability, Environmental Sustainability through Design, Environmental Sustainability and Design Research, Interdisciplinary Nature of Sustainability Studies, Stakeholders in Sustainability Studies.
Course Outcomes Students completing this course will be able to:
1. Learn the sustainable development concept and sustainable industrial design approaches with a focus on their environmental aspect.
2. Identify opportunities for innovation on environmental sustainability.
3. Plan an interdisciplinary research on environmental sustainability.
Conduct industrial design research on environmental sustainability.
