Course Objectives
1. Discussing the conservation and development implementation issues in the dimensions of design, planning and management.
2. Integrating the conservation and development implementation issues with the site management approach.
3. Evaluation of best practices
Course Description
Changing issues in planning and management approaches to historic and natural environment. International recommendations; Evaluation of existing situation. Survey, analysis and evaluation techniques; Planning, conservation and management problems in historic and natural environment; Principles of planning, design and management issues; Conservation planning; Site management; Conservation, planning, management and new use; Conservation, planning, management and transportation; Conservation, planning, management and tourism; Conservation, planning management and participation; Types of conservation implementation: Prevention of deterioration; protection; restoration; modernization; reconstruction; reproduction; redesign; New buildings in historic/conservation areas.
Course Outcomes
1. To understand conservation and development interactions
2. To understand the relations between urban design, planning and management issues in the conservation implementation studies.
3. To be able to contribute the solutions of spatial, social, cultural and economic problems.
4. To understand interdisciplinary interaction related with the conservation implementation.
