Course Objectives 1. It is aimed to introduce the students to estimate the recalculation scheme of most important rock-forming minerals, including olivines, pyroxenes, feldspars, amphiboles, micas, and garnets.
2. Geochemical and petrological characteristics of magmatic rocks based on the rock-forming minerals are planned to introduce the students.
Course Description Definition of mineral geochemistry. Some useful conversions and conversion factors in geochemistry and petrology. Pyroxene chemistry and geochemistry. Recalculation scheme of pyroxene analyses into cations by using Excel spreadsheet, their applications and pyroxene geothermobarometer. Amphibole chemistry and geochemistry. Recalculation scheme of amphibole analyses into cations by using Excel spreadsheet, their applications and amphibole geothermobarometer. Mica chemistry and geochemistry. Recalculation scheme of mica analyses into cations by using Excel spreadsheet, their applications, halogen chemistry, and mica geothermometry.
