Course Objectives
The main objectives of the course are;
1. to develop skills for the application of the wastewater treatment principles in engineering practices with understanding the stoichiometry and kinetics of microbial growth
2. to develop skills for the conceptual design of the biological wastewater and sludge treatment processes.
Course Description
Suspended Growth Aerobic Activated Sludge Processes: Kinetics and stoichiometric characteristics,
modifications, fundamental design parameters and principles of modelling; Biological Nutrient Removal:
Biological Nitrogen Removal: Kinetics and stoichiometric characteristics and principles of modeling,
process modifications for biological nitrogen removal/emerging techniques; Biological Nitrogen Removal:
Kinetics and stoichiometric characteristics and principles of modeling, Anaerobic Treatment Processes,
Aerobic Biofilm Processes
