Course Objectives
1. Provides insight needed to solve structural problems in offshore engineering.
2. Making understanding of the offshore structures for oil and gas exploration.
3. The primary objective of this course is to provide an in-depth understanding of the structural response of offshore structures based on both component and system.
Course Description
Overview of history and development of Offshore Structures, design criteria and loadings, conceptual design, computer modeling and analysis, in-place analysis and code compliance, fatigue analysis, seismic analysis, dynamic analysis, and accidental loads such as fire, blast, dropped objects and ship impact.
Course Outcomes
M.Sc./Ph.D. students who successfully pass this course gain knowledge, skill and competency in the following subjects;
1. At the end of the course, students will be able to understand the basic concepts in offshore structures design and offshore engineering.
2. Students will be trained to use the recommendations and codes of practice to design offshore structures.
3. Students will have a very broad understanding of the behaviour of offshore structures under a variety of loading and operating conditions.
4. Teach students how to design offshore structures against Accidental loads
