UUM 632 - Aircraft Icing

Course Objectives

1- Understanding of important of aircraft icing and the effect of it on the aerodynamics structure.
2- Learning to solve flow field equations around a airfoil.
3- Learning of solution of droplet trajectory equations
4- Learning of calculation of ice accretion .
5- Learning of anti-icing and de-icing.

Course Description

Physics of icing, meteorological phenomena, effect of icing on aerodynamic structure, mathematical model of ice accretion, trajectory of super cooled large droplets, droplet collection efficiency, flow field equations, Navier Stokes equations, drag coefficient, droplet trajectory equations, Lagrangian and Eulerian approach, void fraction of droplet, properties of droplets, thermodynamics of icing, extended Massenger model, mass, energy, internal energy equations, anti- icing, de-icing, certification.

1- Uçaklarda buzlanmanın önemi ve aerodinamik yapıya etkisini anlama.
2- Kanat kesiti etrafında hava akışını çözebilmek.
3- Damlacık yörünge denklemlerini çözümünü öğrenmek.
4- Biriken buz miktarını hesaplamak
5- Buzlanmayı önleme ve giderme işlemlerini öğrenmek.
