Course Objectives Introduction to chromatography theory and techniques. Introduction to preparative and analytical aspects of chromatography.
Course Description Introduction to chromatography, basic concepts. Introduction to chromatographic techniques. TLC, column chromatography. Introduction to chromatographic separation and its mathematical representations. Gas chromatography, injection systems, columns, detectors; sample preparation, injection techniques, qualitative analysis, quantitative analysis, preparative GC. HPLC, injection systems, pump systems, columns and detectors, preparative work.
Course Outcomes Students who successfully pass this course gain knowledge in the following subjects:
I. Purpose and applications of chromatography, separation principles,
II. Analytical and preparative thin layer chromatography and centrifugal chromatography,
III. Column chromatography and flash chromatography,
IV. Gas chromatography injectors, columns and detectors,
V. Gas chromatography, qualitative and quantitative analysis, preparative work,
VI. HPLC pumps, columns, detectors,
VII. Preparation and presentation of term papers related to the outlined topics.
