Course Objectives 1.To emphasize the importance of efficient use of water in buildings
2. To teach water efficient design principles and their relations with each other
3. To give information about the design process of a water efficient building
4. To teach the most appropriate water efficient systems which vary due to the location, the function and the users of different building types
Course Description Water famine problem in Turkey and in world, the importance of efficient use of water in building, parameters which affect the water consumption in building, water efficient design principles and methods for water conservation in buildings, calculation of water efficiency, water efficiency factor in green building certification systems, evaluation of water efficiency for different building types (residence, hospital, office, school, hotel etc.)
Course Outcomes Graduate students who successfully pass this course gain the following knowledge, skills and proficiencies
1. To understand the importance of water efficiency in buildings, to analyze relevant subjects and to gain the skill for developing new solutions.
2. To learn how to integrate water efficient principles into building design process
3. To be aware of water conservation methods in buildings.
4. To be aware of environmental, energy efficient and ecological benefits obtained with the water efficiency in different building types
5. To be aware of innovative technology used in water efficient applications.
