Course Objectives
1. to provide knowledge of the general characteristics of protective clothing,
2. to improve the ability of designing of protective clothing,
3. to examine the production technology of the protective clothing.
Course Description
Protective clothing: an overview. Design of protective clothing. Chemical protective clothing: Introduction, chemical protective clothing materials, barrier effectiveness of chemical protective clothing, performance evaluation of chemical protective clothing, human exposure assessment, decontamination and reuse. Attitudes and clothing practices of pesticide applicators. Refurbishing pesticide-contaminated clothing. Thermal protective clothing: heat transfer through human body and clothing systems. Protective clothing: Use of flame retardant textile finishes. Heat and fire resistant fibers for protective clothing. Protective clothing effective against biohazards. Biological test methods for protective clothing. Current protective clothing applications.
Course Outcomes
Students will have,
At the end of the course, the students will have:
I. a knowledge about the systems and materials of protective clothing,
II. an ability to design protective clothing,
III. a knowledge about the applications of chemical, thermal and biological protective clothing.
IV. a knowledge about current protective clothing applications
