KMM 545 - Special Topics in Chemical Engineering

Course Objectives

1. To train students on high level process safety management and risk based process safety.
2. To train students on how to define and reduce risk in the chemical process industry.
3. To train students on how to prevent chemical accidents and mitigate their consequences using their knowledge of process safety management.

Course Description

This course covers fundamentals of safety in chemical engineering process, process safety culture, leadership, and performance, process safety systems, operational discipline, design safe processes, identify and assess process hazards, evaluate and manage process risks, operate safe processes, maintain process integrity and reliability.
Course topics include solution methods of Chemical Engineering problems related to process safety issues.
