Course Objectives 1. To teach the basic terms of risk.
2. To teach qualitative and quantitative risk analysis techniques.
3. To teach how to do risk assessment and risk management (ISO: 31000).
4. To learn unique risk analysis techniques in maritime especially TMSA and FSA.
5. To evaluate/assess risk outputs and to define safety measures.
Course Description Basic terms of risk; reliability, hazard, probability and distributions, (qualitative and quantitative) risk analysis techniques. Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Event Tree Analysis (ETA), Hazard Analysis (HA), Failure Mode, Effect and Critically Analysis (FMECA). Risk management (ISO: 31000) and screening. Evaluation of risk outputs, acceptable of risk and safety measures. Cost-Benefit Analysis (CBA) and decision making. Marine accidents and casual chain, safety concern and assessments. Tanker Management and Self Assessment (TMSA), Formal Safety Assessment (FSA) and application with examples and review of TMSA.

5. Understand the requirements of an effective safety management with its adoptation.
