Course Objectives 1. To discuss urban pattern systems which focus on analytic and critical reading of the city
2. To introduce the relations of urban physical and social structure and its pattern
3. To discuss the urban pattern elements in terms of their design principles with selected samples
Course Description Description of Urban Morphology, Theoretical Basis and the schools of urban morphology, historical evaluation of cities urban forms, principle and secondary urban elements; the development of settlements ; settlements and growth; plan analysis, spatial methods for studying and analysing the urban patterns, analysis on a sample area selected from Turkey.
Course Outcomes Graduate students who successfully pass this course gain the following knowledge, skills and proficiencies
1. To understand the man- environment interaction on urban pattern,
2. To understand the interdisciplinary interaction related with the field,
3. To understand the elements of urban pattern and its design principles,
4. To be able to execute critical analysis, synthesis, and evaluation related to the field.
5. to develop research skills, to explore, represent and analyze urban development patterns.
