Course Objectives

1. Understanding semigroups of linear operators and their properties.
2. Learn and interpret advanced methods, important theorems and proof methods related to
nonlinear semigroups, stability, and invariance principles
3. Learn and interpret advanced methods, important theorems and proof methods related to
analytical solutions to PDEs.
4. Learn and interpret advanced control methods, important theorems and proof methods
related to boundary control, observer design and nonlinear control techniques
5. Acquire recent research directions on numerical methods on DPSs and develop his/her
written or oral communication skills

Course Description

Introduction to distributed parameter systems, Introducing a broad class of physical dynamical
systems that emerge in many areas such as biology, mechanical or electrical engineering,
communication, transportation. Mathematical modeling of distributed parameter systems with
partial differential equations (PDE), Analytical and numerical solution of PDE equation sets,
Analysis of PDE models, boundary controller and observer design, simulations
