Course Objectives
1- To understand fatigue theories
2- To understand fatigue design criteria
3- To understand fatigue mechanisms
Course Description
In this course, fundamentals of fatigue will be introduced. Phases of fatigue, micro and macro fatigue mechanisms will be presented. Fatigue mechanism will be focused under the aspects of strain – life and stress - -life. LEFM method will be introduced. The effect of notches on fatigue analyses and the importance of relief stress will be explained. Variable strain loading types will investigated and fatigue under multiaxial stress will be researched.
Course Outcomes
Graduate students who successfully pass this course will gain knowledge, skills and competency in the following subjects;
1- Having knowledge of fatigue mechanisms design criteria
2- To understand approaches of materials and structures for fatigue design
3- Being able to apply fatigue calculations
