Course Objectives
1 To teach about factors that affects energy efficiency on board.
2 To teach about factors that enhance energy efficiency in ship design and equipment.
3 To teach about factors that enhance energy efficiency in ship operations.
Course Description
Energy concept; energy types, principles of energy conversion. The use of all primary energy of the fuel and improving efficiency. International rules related ship energy efficiency. Energy efficiency of ships and their propulsion systems. The utilization of waste heat in ships. Efficient operation of ships and their engines.
Course Outcomes
1 Learn energy types and principles of energy conversion.
2 Learn about factors that affect energy efficiency on board and internationals rules
3 Learn about the requirements of efficient design of ships.
4 Learn about engine and systems selection criteria.
5 Learn waste heat and the methods of waste heat recovery.
6 Learn efficient operation of ship and their engines.
