MAK 631E - Advanced Numerical Analysis

Course Objectives

i. To provide knowledge to solve the engineering problems using numerical methods in an efficient manner.
ii. Teaching of numerical methods for solving those engineering problems with complex solutions without closed form solutions.
iii. To apply programming languages such as Matlab, Excel, Fortran and C++ in the proposed numerical methods
iv. To be able to select the optimum numerical method in the solution of mathematical models in engineering problems.

Course Description

Introduction. Solution of non-linear system of equations. Solution of linear system of equations. Interpolation and curve fitting techniques. Numerical differentiation and integration. Numerical optimization. Inıtial value and boundary value problems. Partial differential equations. Numerical techniques for evaluation of eigenvalues and eigenvectors.
