Course Objectives 1. To describe the importance of Rare Earth Elements and Critical Metals in Engineering.
2. To learn different production techniques depending on the characteristics of raw materials.
3. To learn latest technologies and problem solving in these technologies.
4 To keep abreast of developments in the world and to describe the techno-economical necessity of the development of domestic industries for Rare Earth Elements and Critical Metals.
Course Description Rare Earth Elements and Critical Metals, Raw Materials, Physical, Chemical, Magnetic and Optical Properties, Rare Earth Elements in the World and Critical Metals, Rare Earth Elements in Turkey and Critical Metals: Future, Production Methods, Economical Importance and Risks, Environmental Technologies, Usage of Rare Earth Elements and Critical Metals, Recycling and Industrial Applications
Course Outcomes M.Sc./Ph.D. students who successfully pass this course gain knowledge, skill and competency in the following subjects;
1. The importance of Rare Earth Elements and Critical Metals in engineering
2. To know and apply basic production metallurgy principles and to build the relations between input Material properties and process design
3. Depending on production technique, to be able to understand the structure-property- performance and usega area relations
4. To know the Metallurgical processes for Rare Earth Elements and Critical Metals, to have self-confidence and To know how to be able design alternative and environmentally friendly processes for Rare Earth Elements and Critical Metals.
