Course Objectives
1. To create knowledge using the literature about regional theory and the examples of
development policies
2. To improve theoretical background on regional sciences,
3. To establish the relationship between theory and policy
4. To teach current policies related to regional development
5. To transfer knowledge on the regional development approaches and regional planning
experiences in Turkey
Course Description
Reasons that make Regional Planning necessary, Regional Development Theory, View from
inside the region; Economic basement, view from outside ; Regional Disparity, The New
Economic Order and New Data for Regional Planning, Regional Planning in the Context of
Globalization - Localisation, Metropolitan Areas and Planning, Methods of Regional Planning,
Regional Development Policies, Regional Development Approaches in Turkey and Experiences
in Regional Planning.
