Course Objectives
1. Give information about textile dyestuffs, pigments and chromic materials
2. Give information about advanced dyeing and printing methods
3. Give information about mass coloration
4. Give information about different printable bases and surface modification methods prior to printing
5. Give information about functional and structural coloration
Course Description
Dyes and pigments in textiles, classification of available colorants, chromic materials, advanced dyeing and printing methods, mass coloration methods of polymers, pigments available for mass coloration, optical effect pigments and their technical use, printing methods, conventional printing and ink jet printing of technical textiles, surface modifications of polymers prior to coloration, functional coloration, structural coloration, regulations relating to the use of textile dyes and chemicals.
Course Outcomes
Students who pass the course will be able to:
I. Have information about textile dyestuffs, pigments and chromic materials and application onto the related fibers.
II. Have information about selection of advanced coloration methods applied onto the technical textiles according to the fibers and the structure of the textiles.
III. Have information about surface modifications, in the case of requirement prior to coloration
IV. Have information about structural and functional coloration.
