UUM 523E - Advanced Flight Dynamics

Course Objectives

1. To develop conceptual understanding and technical insight into flight dynamics principles,
2. To introduce the methods to obtain the linear dynamics of the aircraft and to analyze the aircraft dynamics in terms of stability characteristics and flying and handling qualities,
3. To build up the necessary techniques for modeling the 6-DOF nonlinear aircraft dynamics and the simulation of the aircraft motion.

Course Description

Coordinate systems and axes transformations, the aircraft equations of motion, the 6-DOF aircraft dynamics modeling and simulation, the aircraft static stability, the aircraft trim problem, linearization of the aircraft equations of motion, the aircraft longitudinal dynamics, the aircraft lateral-directional dynamics, the aircraft flying and handling qualities.
