Course Objectives
This course aims to revisit a number of influential models and trajectories of architectural education 19th century onwards. A selection of seminal models and experiments on architectural education will be analysed in their historical roots and contexts, socio-political environments, methods, agendas and evolutions. Along the progression of the courses timeline, the content will shift from the study of the influential Europe-based models, to their dissemination, dissolutions and their radical oppositions in various geographies. Through the study of a range of models, agendas, trajectories, complemented with invited speakers, workshops and writing, it is aimed to pluralise perspectives on received notions and culture of architectural education in the past two centuries.
Finally, based on these acquisitions, it is intended to critically reflect on current practices and future visions of architectural education.
