Course Objectives To give students knowledge about general structures of railway signaling systems.

To give students knowledge about railway processes and interlocking principles.

To study safety issues of railway systems.
Course Description Basic characteristics of railway systems and the requirements for safety in signalling systems. Railway operation processes. Interlocking principles. Train detection, track circuits, axle counters, point machines, signals. Train protection, ETCS, fixed block, moving block. Remote control and operation technology. Hazard alert systems
